Tangermunde

From Chapter XX

   During the early morning hours of May 7th, from vantage points in the river town of Tangermünde, we watched what was later claimed to be the last battle of the European war. The highway curved toward the bridge from the southeast, and the railroad approached somewhat from northeast. They joined and crossed the bridge together and proceeded side by side across the flat meadow east of the Elbe.
